In the MedDroid assistant, tap + → Read a report or scan, then use your camera or upload a photo or PDF.
How it works
- STEP 1
Upload a photo or PDF
Take a photo of your report or upload the lab's PDF. Several pages? Add up to 4 files at once.
- STEP 2
MedDroid reads the values
Every test is read top to bottom with its value, unit and the lab's normal range, and the ones outside the range are marked.
- STEP 3
Get it in plain language
A short explanation in everyday words, whether anything looks serious, and what to do next, including what to ask your doctor.
What you get
Urine routine (example)
Illustrative example with made-up values, not a real patient. Your own report is read the same way.
Needs attention
| Pus cells | 10 – 12 /hpf ▲ High | Range 0 – 5 |
| Nitrite | Positive ● Flagged | Range Negative |
✓ 11 other values in the normal range
In simple words
Pus cells are raised and nitrite is positive. Together these can be seen with a urine infection. Protein and sugar are negative.
Is it serious?
Not usually an emergency, but see a doctor soon, especially with fever, back pain or burning.
What to do next
- Ask your doctor whether a urine culture is needed
- Mention fever, burning or back pain
Values it explains
Urine values read: colour, appearance, pH, specific gravity, protein / albumin, glucose, ketones, bilirubin, nitrite, pus cells, red cells, epithelial cells, casts, crystals and bacteria.

Frequently asked questions
What do pus cells in urine mean?
Pus cells are white blood cells. A raised count often goes with a urinary infection or inflammation, but contamination of the sample can also raise it. Your doctor decides whether a culture or treatment is needed.
Why does my urine report say protein trace?
Small amounts of protein can appear after exercise, fever or dehydration. Persistent protein needs a doctor's review, sometimes with a urine albumin test.
Is the lab report reader really free?
Yes. The free Community Edition includes 1 report read a day, whether or not you have an account. Paid plans allow more (fair use of up to 5 report reads a day).
Which files can I upload?
A photo of the report (camera or gallery) or a PDF from the lab, up to 4 files at a time, and every page is read. Word, Excel and text files also work: they are turned into a PDF on your device first.
Is this a diagnosis?
No. MedDroid explains what the values on your report mean in general, so you can understand them and prepare questions. Only your doctor can interpret the results with your symptoms and history.
