Lipid profile report reader: your cholesterol report in plain language
A lipid profile lists total cholesterol, LDL, HDL, triglycerides, VLDL and ratios. Upload it and MedDroid explains what each one means and which are outside the lab's range.
In the MedDroid assistant, tap + → Read a report or scan, then use your camera or upload a photo or PDF.
How it works
- STEP 1
Upload a photo or PDF
Take a photo of your report or upload the lab's PDF. Several pages? Add up to 4 files at once.
- STEP 2
MedDroid reads the values
Every test is read top to bottom with its value, unit and the lab's normal range, and the ones outside the range are marked.
- STEP 3
Get it in plain language
A short explanation in everyday words, whether anything looks serious, and what to do next, including what to ask your doctor.
What you get
Lipid profile (example)
Illustrative example with made-up values, not a real patient. Your own report is read the same way.
Needs attention
| Total cholesterol | 214 mg/dL ▲ High | Range below 200 |
| LDL cholesterol | 142 mg/dL ▲ High | Range below 100 |
| Triglycerides | 168 mg/dL ▲ High | Range below 150 |
✓ 2 other values in the normal range
In simple words
Total cholesterol, LDL and triglycerides are above the lab's targets. HDL is inside the range.
Is it serious?
Not an emergency. High cholesterol matters over years, so it is worth a plan with your doctor.
What to do next
- Ask your doctor what your LDL target should be
- Ask whether diet and exercise are enough or medicine is needed
Values it explains
Total cholesterol, LDL ("bad") cholesterol, HDL ("good") cholesterol, triglycerides, VLDL, non-HDL cholesterol and the cholesterol ratios.
Your report, your choice. You can read a report without an account. If you are signed in, MedDroid asks before adding it to your health records, and nothing is saved there without your yes. Privacy policy
Not a diagnosis — always discuss results with your doctor. MedDroid is an AI assistant and can make mistakes. It explains reports in general terms and does not replace your doctor or laboratory. If you feel very unwell, call your local emergency number (108 or 112 in India).
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to fast before a lipid profile?
Many labs ask for 9 to 12 hours of fasting, mainly for triglycerides, but some accept non-fasting samples. Follow your lab's instructions; MedDroid can tell you if the report says fasting or not.
Which number matters most on a cholesterol report?
Doctors usually look most closely at LDL cholesterol, together with your other risk factors such as blood pressure, sugar and smoking. Your target depends on your overall risk, which your doctor decides.
Is the lab report reader really free?
Yes. The free Community Edition includes 1 report read a day, whether or not you have an account. Paid plans allow more (fair use of up to 5 report reads a day).
Can I get the explanation in my own language?
Yes. Ask MedDroid to reply in your language, for example "reply in Tamil" or "activate Hindi", and the explanation comes in that language.
Is this a diagnosis?
No. MedDroid explains what the values on your report mean in general, so you can understand them and prepare questions. Only your doctor can interpret the results with your symptoms and history.
