Thyroid report reader: TSH, T3 and T4 explained in plain language

Thyroid reports pair TSH (the brain's signal) with T3 and T4 (the thyroid hormones). Upload yours and MedDroid explains how the numbers fit together and which are outside the lab's range.

In the MedDroid assistant, tap + → Read a report or scan, then use your camera or upload a photo or PDF.

How it works

  1. STEP 1

    Upload a photo or PDF

Take a photo of your report or upload the lab's PDF. Several pages? Add up to 4 files at once.

  2. STEP 2

    MedDroid reads the values

Every test is read top to bottom with its value, unit and the lab's normal range, and the ones outside the range are marked.

  3. STEP 3

    Get it in plain language

A short explanation in everyday words, whether anything looks serious, and what to do next, including what to ask your doctor.

What you get

EXAMPLE

Thyroid profile (example)

Illustrative example with made-up values, not a real patient. Your own report is read the same way.

Needs attention

TSH6.8 mIU/L ▲ HighRange 0.4 – 4.0

✓ 2 other values in the normal range

In simple words

TSH is above the range while T3 and T4 are inside it. A high TSH means the brain is asking the thyroid to work harder.

Is it serious?

A mildly raised TSH with normal T4 is usually not urgent. Doctors often repeat it before deciding anything.

What to do next

  • Ask your doctor whether to repeat TSH in a few weeks
  • Ask whether a thyroid antibody test is useful

Values it explains

Also total T3 and T4, free T3 and free T4, and thyroid antibodies (anti-TPO) when they are on the report.

Frequently asked questions

What does a high TSH mean on a thyroid report?

TSH is made by the pituitary gland to push the thyroid. When the thyroid is underactive, TSH usually rises. A single mildly high value is often rechecked; your doctor reads it together with T4 and your symptoms.

Can MedDroid tell me my thyroid medicine dose?

No. MedDroid explains the report; any change to a thyroid medicine dose must be decided by your doctor.

Is the lab report reader really free?

Yes. The free Community Edition includes 1 report read a day, whether or not you have an account. Paid plans allow more (fair use of up to 5 report reads a day).

Do I need to sign in?

No, you can read a report without an account. Sign in only if you want to keep it: MedDroid then asks before adding the report to your health records, and saves nothing there without your yes.

Is this a diagnosis?

No. MedDroid explains what the values on your report mean in general, so you can understand them and prepare questions. Only your doctor can interpret the results with your symptoms and history.
