Palonosetron is a long-acting anti-sickness medicine for chemotherapy. It belongs to the Anti-nausea (chemotherapy) group. These prevent the strong nausea and vomiting caused by chemotherapy or surgery.

Why are several anti-sickness drugs used together for chemo?
Chemotherapy triggers nausea by different pathways, so combining medicines (e.g. an “setron”, aprepitant and a steroid) controls it far better.
How is aprepitant different?
It blocks a specific vomiting signal (NK-1) and is added to prevent the delayed nausea some chemotherapies cause.
